Knapp sharp again, Claws win 7-4

Jason Knapp threw another impressive performance Tuesday night, striking out 12 in 5 innings in which he threw over 100 pitches, but once again received no decision, despite leaving the game with 4-1 lead. Jason allowed 1 run on 2 hits, and the run was a result of a disputed (read that:bad) call in the first inning by home plate umpire Mathieu Moisan. With Greensboro's Kevin Mattison on third base, and Jeremy Synan on first, Synan was thrown out stealing second, and Moisan ruled that Mattison scored before Synan was out at second. Clearly, it was the wrong call. It was the only run Knapp would allow, lowering his ERA to 3.50. At one point he struck out the side in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings, and his final pitch was 98 MPH!!

Unfortunately for Knapp, Ben Lassiter belted a 3-run home run off Jordan Ellis, who made his 2nd appearance since joining Lakewood, to tie the game at 4-4 and preclude Knapp from recording his first win since May 2. Jordan would pick up the victory when Jim Murphy smacked his 8th home run in the 7th inning, his 2nd in 2 nights, to provide Lakewood with the margin of victory. "Murph" now has 36 RBI and his 2 hits have him back to .300. Harold Garcia (.289, 2 RBI), Travis D'Arnaud (single, double, walk, run), and Vladimir De Los Santos (.300, run) added 2 hits each for the BlueClaws. Anthony Gose added a single, 2 walks, scored a run and threw out a runner at home!

B.J. Rosenberg (1.41 ERA) threw the final 2 innings, striking out 3 to notch his 12th save of the year.

Jesus Sanchez (3-4) will go tonight for Lakewood.
