Kendrick, Maloney sharp

Kyle Kendrick threw 8 shut out innings for the IronPigs on Sunday, leading Lehigh Valley to a 2-0 win over Syracuse. Kyle (5-5, 3.46) allowed just 6 hits and 1 walk, striking out 3 as the IronPigs improved to 40-43 on the year. Lou Marson had 2 more hits, and is 10 for 25 the last 7 games, raising his average to .273 for the season.

In Indianapolis, Matt Maloney threw the first game of the doubleheader for Louisville, and lost 1-0, despite pitching strong for 5 innings. Matt (5-5, 2.28) surrendered 3 hits and 1 walk, but got no support from his offense. After a rough 3-game stint with the Reds, Maloney seems to have refound his comfort level, and should get another shot at the big time somewhere this year.

In Reno, Chris Roberson was 4 for 5, including 3 doubles, and 4 RBI in the Ace's 13-8 loss to Sacramento. "Robey" has been hot lately, going 9 for his last 22 (.409) over the past 5 games. In Fresno, Randy Ruiz had a double and a walk, and his HomeSide leading 73rd RBI in Las Vegas' 5-4 to the Grizzlies. In Springfield, Adrian Cardenas had another hit for the Midland Rock Hounds in Midland's 7-2 loss. Since going 0 for 2 in the Texas League All-Star Game Wednesday, Adrian is 8 for 17, raising his average to .347 for Midland.
