Another fine pitching performance to report from Clearwater, where Mike Cisco threw a brilliant 7 innings yielding just 2 hits, NO walks, and no runs, striking out 8. Cisco is now 7-3, 3.31 since starting his season late. There was much breath-holding in the 9th as Carlos Monasterios gave up 3 runs, but did not break, and the Threshers took a 4-3 win over St Lucie.
Dominic Brown (.310) and Cody Overbeck (double, RBI) had 2 hits each for the Threshers, and Javis Diaz stole 2 more bases, giving him 22 on the year.
Clearwater seems to have righted the ship, improving to 16-14 in the second half, 4.5 games behind first-place Tampa.
In Greenville, it was a day game on a hot day!! The Drive defeated the BlueClaws 8-1, roughing up Freddy Ballestas and Eryk McConnell for all 8 runs over 6 innings. Lakewood got 3 hits and 2 steals from T.J. Warren and Travis d'Arnaud broke a 2 for 17 stretch with 2 singles in 3 at bats. Lakewood is now 5-2 on this trip and will try to win the series tonight. Jesus Sanchez (7-5) gets the ball.
