Hamels homers in loss

Saturday in Philadelphia, the Giants beat the Phillies, 6-5 in 10 innings.  In this game, Giants' pitcher Matt Cain homered off Cole Hamels in his first at bat, only to have Hamels hit HIS 1st home run of his career in the next inning!!  Hamels threw 7.2 innings, allowing 5 runs on 10 hits and getting no decision.  Antonio Bastardo finished off the 8th inning, retiring the only hitter he faced, and stranding 2 runners.  Ryan Howard smashed his 3rd home run since his return, a 3-run bomb to give the Phillies a lead in the 6th.  Carlos Ruiz (.347) was 1 for 4.

In Washington, the Braves and the Nationals split a pair of game, with Atlanta winning the opener, 4-0, and Washington coming back in the nightcap, 5-2.   Michael Bourn (.304) was 3 for 9 on the day, with 2 stolen bases (28) and a  run scored for the Braves.......In Boston, the Blue Jays topped the Sox, 7-3.  Anthony Gose was 0 for 3, and is just 1 for 11 in his first week in the majors.
