In Atlanta, Brian McCann homered for the 6th straight game against the Phillies, a 3-run shot in the 5th inning off Cole Hamels (11-5) to secure a 6-1 win for the Braves. It is the first time ever that 1 player has homered against the Phils 6 straight times! Cole struggled with his control, walking 6 and allowing 5 runs (only 3 earned) on 4 hits in just 5 innings of work. Ryan Howard (.245) and Carlos Ruiz (.344) had a hit each for Philadelphia, and Michael Bourn (.298) had an RBI single and scored a run for the Braves.
In Toronto, the Blue Jays beat Detroit, 8-3. Quintin Berry (.291) had 2 more hits for the Tigers, and Anthony Gose (3 for 18 since call-up) had an RBI hit and stole his 1st major league base. Watching some of the Jays' games this week, Gose is starting to look more comfortable.
In Minnesota, Lou Marson (.266) was 0 for 3 in the Indians' 11-0 loss to the Twins.........In Denver, Alfredo Simon (1.41) recorded his first hold, retiring 4 hitters (1 hit) for the Reds in their 3-0 victory over the Rockies.
