In Chicago Monday, the White Sox activated Gavin Floyd and sent him out against the Twins. The inactivity had him struggle with his control, but like the warrior he is, Floyd made his way through 6 innings, holding Minnesota to just 3 runs, despite walking 6 and allowing 6 hits. Aided by 4 double plays in his 6 frames, Floyd posted his 8th win of the year, as the Sox triumphed, 7-4.
It was win #45 for HomeSiders in the majors this season.
In Philadelphia, Ryan Howard had 3 hits, including a huge 2-strike, 2-RBI single in the 9th inning, as the Fightin' Phils rallied for 4 in the bottom of the 9th to steal a 7-6 win from Milwaukee. Carlos Ruiz (.346) had 2 walks and drove in tying run in the 9th with a line drive single, and Ty Wigginton's sacrifice fly made a winner of Joe Savery. Jake Diekman also threw a scoreless inning for Philadelphia.
In Miami, the Marlins held the Braves to just 4 hits in a 2-1 win. Michael Bourn (.300) had 1 of the hits and scored the Braves' run in the 9th inning.......In Arizona, Mike Zaguski allowed a home run to Carlos Gonzalez and then walked the only other he faced for the Diamondbacks, who won anyway, 6-3 over Colorado.
