It is deadline day today, and while some trades have already been done, there is usually a flurry of activity in the final few hours. Last night, the Blue Jays made 2 deals, trading young outfielders for pitching help, and making what looks like a permanent spot for Anthony Gose for the remainder of the season. Gose was 0 for 2 and was caught stealing for the first time in last night's 4-1 loss in Seattle.
In Boston, Quintin Berry (.286) doubled off the green monster in his first at bat at Fenway Park. It was his only hit in the Tiger's 7-3 loss to the Sox.........In Atlanta, Michael Bourn (.293) was 1 for 5 and drove in 2 runs for the Braves in their 8-2 whipping of the Marlins.......In Cincinnati, the Padres were all over the Reds, 11-5. Alfredo Simon had a rare off game, allowing 5 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks over just 2.1 innings. His ERA went up to a still very good 2.45.
I still expect the Phillies to make a move at some point today.
