In Philadelphia Saturday, the Marlins beat Cole Hamels and the Phillies, 5-4. Cole (8-2) went 6.2 innings, and gave up 5 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks, striking out 8 and having his 8-game winning streak ended. Carlos Ruiz (.371) took a rare 0 for 4, but knocked in a run (#32), and Freddy Galvis (.232) had 1 for 3.
In Detroit, the Tigers got by the Yankees, 4-3. Quintin Berry (.362) had an RBI single and a walk, and also stole his 6th base, and has now hit in 10 of the 11 games he has played!.............In Toronto, Kyle Drabek battled his way through 6.2 innings against Boston, and was the losing pitcher in the Sox' 7-4 win. Kyle (4-6) allowed 5 runs, 4 earned, on 6 hits and 4 walks, and is still struggling with control issues............In Washington, Stephen Strasberg silenced the Braves with 7 shut out innings in which he allowed 4 hits and no walks, and struck out 9. Michael Bourn (.298) was 1 for 4 for Atlanta, and made a great leaping catch in center field.............In Chicago, the Mariners beat the White Sox, 10-8 in 12 innings. Gavin Floyd started for the Sox, and allowed 5 runs on 9 hits (4 home runs) in just 5 innings of work. Gavin has hit a funk, allowing 26 earned runs over 19.2 innings in his last 4 starts. Yikes!!........In Cleveland, the Twins defeated the Indians, 7-4. Lou Marson had an RBI single in 3 at bats for the Tribe.
