In Philadelphia Thursday, Kyle Kendrick allowed 5 runs in the 1st inning, and then 6 more innings without giving up another one, but the Phillies came up short, dropping a 5-4 decision to the Pirates. From innings 2-7, Kendrick (2-8) allowed just 2 hits and 2 walks, keeping the Phillies in the game, but Pittsburgh held on for the win.
In Denver, The Rockies beat the Nationals, 11-10 in 11 innings. Josh Outman was the starter for the Rockies, and allowed 5 runs on 5 hits in just 3 innings of work. Outman is still searching for that elusive first win, and his ERA is a whopping 9.32! Ouch!
In Baltimore, Lou Marson had a hit and a walk, and scored a run to help the Indians beat the Orioles, 7-2. After a very slow start, Lou has his average up to .250 and is proving that if he is given some playing time, he can still hit......In Tampa, Quintin Berry (.316) had a single, an RBI, and scored a run for Detroit, as the Tigers got the best of the Rays, 5-2........In Atlanta, the Diamondbacks edged the Braves, 3-2. Michael Bourn (.306) was 0 for 3 with a walk, but drove in a run with a sacrifice fly for Atlanta.
