In Arlington Wednesday, the Texas Rangers outscored the Tigers, 13-9, despite 3 hits from Quintin Berry. "Q" had 2 singles and a triple and drove in his 12th run for the Tigers, lifting his average up to an excellent mark of .318, and is 6 for 15 on his current 4-game hitting streak.......In New York, Lou Marson (.246) was 2 for 4 and scored a run for the Indians, who were beaten by the Yanks, 5-4.
In Cincinnati, the Brewers doubled the Reds, 8-4. Alfredo Simon threw 2 scoreless frames for the Reds, allowing 1 hit and 1 walk, and lowering his ERA to a very good 1.78......In Atlanta, the Braves topped the Diamondbacks, 6-4. Michael Bourn was 0 for 3, but drove in a run for Atlanta with a scarifice fly, and Mike Zagurski tossed a 1-2-3 inning for Arizona.
In Philadelphia, Chase Utley made his season debut for the Phillies and picked up 3 hits, including a home run in his first at bat! Carlos Ruiz also homered in the 1st, 1 of 2 hits for him on the night. Carlos (.364) had 8 hits in the 3 game series against Pittsburgh, who took an 11-7 decision. Joe Savery allowed 5 runs on 5 hits in just 2.2 innings and was returned to Lehigh Valley after the game. Jacob Diekman and Antonio Bastardo each tossed a shut out inning for the Fightin' Phils.
