Threshers win with ringers!

In Clearwater Monday, Jim Thome and Michael Martinez were both in the Threshers line-up and the rehabbing major leaguers had 3 hits each to lead Clearwater to a 15-2 win over Palm Beach. Zack Collier also had 3 hits, and has come off the suspended list raking.  Zack had 4 RBI Monday and is 11 for 25 (that's .444) in 6 games since being activated. Second baseman Albert Cartwright also had 3 hits, including a grand slam home run.  Austin Wright improved to 6-0 on the year with 6 solid innings of work, yielding jst 1 run on 6 hits and 2 walks for the Threshers, with Austin Brough finishing up (2 IP, 1 run 2 hits).  My apologies to Brough, who I stated was sent to extended spring training when he was actually promoted.  Go, Bro!!

In Las Vegas, the Reno Aces' Charles Brewer held the 51s to just 3 hits on the night, and Randy Ruiz belted his 14th home run for Reno as the Aces topped Vegas, 6-2.  Randy's blast came off Andrew Carpenter, who allowed 6 runs on 11 hits and 1 walk in 5.2 innings for Las Vegas, suffering his first defeat of the year. Travis d'Arnaud homered for 1 of the Vegas runs, his 13th so far this year.

In Springfield, the Cardinals beat Corpus Christi, 12-8.  Jonathan Villar (.260) had 3 hits for the Hooks, including a grand slam home run, and Josh Zeid threw an inning, giving up a run on 2 hits and a walk.

In Rochester, the Red Wings took both game of a doubleheader from the Columbus Clippers.  In the opener, a 2-1 Wings' win which had been suspended Sunday, Jason Donald had a hit, the lone RBI for Columbus, and stole a base. "JD" sat the the second game, which Rochester took, 4-0...........In Charlotte, the Knights scored a 3-2 win over Gwinnett.  Greg Golson (.289) drove in the deciding run with a single to center field in the Knights' 3-run rally in the 5th inning.  It was the 24th RBI for Golson, who is having a very good AAA season for the White Sox affiliate.........In Tacoma, Michael Taylor (.323) had 2 hits, 2 RBI and scored 2 runs as the River Cats were all over the Rainiers, 13-4.

In Trenton, the Thunder outscored  New Hampshire, 10-7.  Kevin Howard (.314) had 2 hits and scored a run for the Fisher Cats........In Huntsville, the Stars rallied to defeat Mississippi, 9-5.  Jesus Sanchez pitched 2 innings, giving up a rare run on 2 hits, but made up for it with an RBI hit of his own!  Sanchez ERA is still a stellar 0.96.........In Bakersfield, Travis Mattair had a single and a double, and scored a run for the Blaze in their 7-6 win over Modesto.

Last week, the Brewers promoted Jason Jaramillo to AAA-Nashville.  "J.J." had 2 hits last night for the Sounds in their 10-6 loss to New Orleans, and is hitting .313 in 5 games since the promotion.
