J-Rod, Stewart shine Sunday

In Reading, Julio Rodriguez (4-1, 2.81) threw 7 solid innings against Akron, allowing just 2 runs on 2 hits and 4 walks, striking out 10 in the R-Phils' 4-2 win over the Aeros.  D'Arby Myers was 1 for 3 with an RBI in his AA-debut, and Colby Shreve picked up his 1st save with a scoreless 9th inning of work.

In Lakewood, Ethan Stewart won his 3rd straight start, a 6-1 win for the Claws over Hickory. Stewart went 6 stellar innings, allowing just 1 run on only 3 hits and 2 walks to wrap up the first half on a positive note for Lakewood, winners of 6 of their last 8.  Chris Duffy and Guantlett Eldemire had 2 hits each for the Claws, who will now take 3 days off before opening the second half in Hagerstown Thursday.


In Gwinnett, Jason Donald (.292)  had 2 hits, a walk, a sacrifice and scored 2 runs for the Clippers, as Columbus beat Yohan Flande and the Braves, 6-2.  Flande (3-5, 395) pitched 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks.............In Charlotte, Greg Golson (.285) doubled and scored a run, but it was the only hit the Knights got in the game, as Indianapolis scored a run in the 9th for a 2-1 win..............In Huntsville, Jesus Sanchez (1.30) notched his 7th save of the year for the Stars in their 3-1 win over Montgomery.  Darren Byrd picked up a hold, his 4th, with 2 scoreless inning to set it up.....in Frisco, Jonathan Villar had an RBI double, and then hit a 2-run home run during Corpus Christi's 9-run 11th inning which produced a 14-5 win for the Hooks.
