midseason shuffle begins.....

In Columbus, the Clippers came from behind to edge the IronPIgs, 3-2.  Steve Susdorf (.305) was 1 of 4 Lehigh Valley players with 2 hits on the day.  Tyler Cloyd (2.17) threw 6 shut out innings, giving up just 4 hits and 2 walks, leaving with a 2-0 lead and a good shot at the win.  Cloyd is 7-1 for the IronPigs, and 10-1 overall in 2012.

The Phillies have started the shuffle that always takes place at this time of the year, with Jay Johnson being sent from Reading to Clearwater, and Cody Asche being promoted from the Threshers.  Harold Martinez has also been promoted to the Threshers, and Brock Stassi has been brought up from Williamsport to Lakewood.

In Bowie, the Reading Phillies swept a pair of game from the BaySox, 3-1 and 4-2. In the opener, Jonathan Pettibone (7-5) threw a complete game (7 innings), allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks, striking out 7.  In the nightcap, Leandro Castro (.293) had 3 hits, including an double and an RBI, and Jiwan James and Tim Kennelly added 2 hits each to ensure the sweep.  Colby Shreve picked up his first AA win with 2 scoreless innings of relief work.

In Clearwater, the Threshers rallied for 7 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning for a 7-2 win over Daytona.  Cameron Rupp was 3 for 3, including 2 doubles, and Zack Collier had a big 2-RBI triple during the winning rally.  Brody Colvin went the first 6 innings, giving up just 2 runs on 8 hits and 1 walk, and  Chris Kissock picked up the win in relief.

In Hagerstown, the Suns beat the BlueClaws, 10-8. Chris Duffy (.384) and Aaron Altherr (.242) had 3 hits each, and Miakel Franco and newcomer Brock Stassi added 2 hits each to the Lakewood attack.  You cannot say enough good things about Duffy, who has hit in 9 straight games now.  Chris has hit safely in 24 of the 26 games in which he has played for Lakewood, and has reached base in all 26!!



In Rancho Cucamongo, Travis "Moose" Mattair had 3 hits, including a grand slam home run, and drove in 5 runs to pace the Bakersfield Blaze to a wild 15-10 win over the Quakes.  Go, Moose!!........In Rochester, the Red Wings pounded Charlotte, 12-1.  Greg Golson (.277)  had 2 hits for the Knights.......In Las Vegas, Travis d'Arnaud (.336) had 2 hits, including a triple, drove in a run (#52) and scored another one, as the 51s beat Sacramento, 7-2.  Michael Taylor (.309) drove in Sacramento's 2 runs with a 2-out, 2-RBI hit in the 7th inning for the River Cats......In Lake Elsinore, Domingo Santana (.282) had a single, a double, a walk, scored a run and drove in 2 more for Lancaster, but the JetHawks lost a 7-6 decision to the Storm.
