Cloyd overcomes Indians

The storybook season of Tyler Cloyd goes on.....and on.  Tuesday night in Allentown, Tyler threw another 6 shut out innings, allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk to improve to 4-0 with Lehigh Valley, and 7-0 overall this year.  His ERA since his promotion: 0.69- just 2 runs in 26 innings!  Tim Kennelly, who was recently called up from Reading, hit a 2-run home run , and Rich Thompson had 3 hits for the IronPigs, who beat Indianapolis, 4-0.  Tyson Brummett pitched 2 perfect innings of relief, striking out 4 of his 6 hitters, and Mike Schwimer threw a 1-2-3 9th.

In Reading, the R-Phils dropped an 8-5 decision to Portland.  Cesar Hernandez (.326 overall 8 for 16 last 4 games) had 2 more hits, as did Steve Susdorf (.303) and Miguel AbreuSebastian Valle hit his second home run for Reading.  Drew Naylor (2-1) allowed 6 runs, 5 earned on 5 hits and 4 walks in just 5 innings.

Jeremy Barnes has been promoted from Clearwater to Reading, and Drew Hillman has been assigned to Clearwater.


In Clearwater, the Dunedin Jays soundly beat the Threshers, 10-2.  Let's see, Garrett Claypool went 2.2 innings, restoring order after a shaky start from Adam Morgan.  Morgan allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in just 3.1 innings.  Edgar Duran (.280, 2 for 3) had the only multi hit game for Clearwater.

The BlueClaws welcomed Kelly Dugan back to the line up in Delmarva Tuesday night, and Kelly had 2 hits and a walk, and scored 2 runs, but the BlueClaws lost to the Shorebirds, 8-7.  Gabriel Arias was great, throwing 3 shut out innings, allowing only 1 walk, and striking out 6.


In New Orleans, the Zephyrs stopped Las Vegas, 5-2 on just 5 hits.  Anthony Gose drove in 1 of the runs (#22 for him), and Bobby Korecky tossed 2 scoreless innings for the 51s........In Sacramento, Michael Taylor (.340) had 2 walks, scored a run and knocked in another to help the River Cats top Iowa, 9-4.........In Toledo, Quintin Berry (.276) had a hit and 3 RBI for the Mud Hens as they beat the Yankees, 8-2.........In Columbus, Jason Donald was 1 for 3, and a walk in his first game back with Clippers, a 5-1 defeat to Syracuse.......In Huntsville, the Mississippi Braves defeated the Stars, 5-1.  Darren Byrd threw 2 scoreless innings (2 hits, 1 walk, 2 Ks)  for Huntsville.........In Erie, the Akron Aeros hit Zack Segovia hard, 6 runs on 7 hits, including 3 home runs in just 3 innings, in Akron's 8-1 win.  Zack is 4-3 on the year for the Sea Wolves.........In San Antonio, Corpus Christi scored 4 runs in the 10th to take a 5-1 game from the Missions.  Jonathan Villar was 1 for 3, and had a sacrifice bunt during the 4-run rally.  Jonathan Singleton had a bases loaded walk during the big inning, one of his 3 walks on the day.

The Twins have sent Matt Rizzotti to AA-New Britain.
