Cloyd take first loss

In Philadelphia Sunday, the Red Sox took the rubber game of their series with the Phillies, 5-1.  Freddy Galvis was 1 for 4, Carlos Ruiz 0 for 1 as a pinch hitter, and Jacob Diekman tossed a scoreless frame of relief........In Cleveland , the Marlins topped the Indians, 5-2.  Lou Marson was 0  for 1, with a walk for the Tribe......At Wrigley Field, the White Sox domination over the cross town rival Cubs continued with a 6-0 Sox win.  Adrian Cardenas was 0 for 2 for the home team.......In Denver, the Mariners defeated the Rockies, 6-4, Josh Outman came on and retired the only hitter he faced.  Josh is looking better every time out since coming off the DL.

In yesterday's post, when I talked about Clearwater, I gave the recap for SUNDAY, and not Saturday.  So let me mention that on Saturday, when Jupiter beat Clearwater, 5-1, Bryan Morgado made his debut for the Threshers with 3 shut out innings.  Add that on to the 11 straight scoreless inning he finished off with the Claws and we are up to 14 consecutive innings without allowing a run.  Go Bryan!

In Allentown, Tyler Cloyd threw 5 more shut out innings before Louisville got him for 5 runs in the 6th en route to a 7-3 victory over the IronPigs. Cloyd is now 4-1, 1.97 with Lehigh Valley.  Tyson Brummett gave up 2 runs on 3 hits in his inning, and Cody Overbeck (.259) had the only multi-hit game for the Pigs, though the RBI went to Domonic Brown, Derrick Mitchell and Tim Kennelly.  Brown also threw out a runner at home.........In Reading Darin Ruf (.353) had 2 hits, including his 7th home run, and drove in 3 runs to help lead the R-Phils to a 10-4 spanking of New Britain.  Jonathan Pettibone won his 3rd game of the year with 5 innings of work.  He allowed 3 runs, just 1 earned, on 4 hits and 3 walks.  Lisalberto Bonilla worked 2 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits and 2 walks.  Troy Hanzawa continues his fine season, with 2 more hits to raise his average to .319.  Matt Rizzotti had 2 walks for the Rock Cats.

In Rochester, the Red Wings lost to Gwinnett, 2-1.  Matt Maloney threw 3 shut out innings for the Wings, allowing only 1 hit.  Matt threw 39 pitches, 31 of them for strikes.......In Las Vegas, the 51s defeated Memphis, 5-2.  Travis d'Arnaud (.297) had a single, a double, an RBI (#20) and scored a run, and Anthony Gose added a double for the 51s.  Andrew Carpenter picked up the win, his first for Vegas, with 6 strong innings......In Durham, the Bulls shut out Knights on 3 hits, but 1 of those was a double by Greg Golson............In Albuquerque, Michael Taylor (.336) doubled and scored what turned out to be the winning run in the 9th inning for Sacramento, in the River Cats 5-4 win over the Isotopes........In Chattanooga, the Lookouts topped Huntsville, 7-3.  Jason Jaramillo had a single, a walk, and an RBI for the Stars.
