In Clearwater, the Threshers came from behind to beat the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 6-5. Carlos Alonso (.340) had 2 hits, including a home run, and 2 walks, driving in 2 runs and scoring 3, and Anthony Hewitt had 2 more hits and 3 RBI. Hewitt is 9 for 12 in the last 3 games! Austin Wright started for Clearwater and went 5 innings, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk, striking out 6. The win went to Garrett Claypool, who threw 3 scorleless innings to bounce back from a disaster in his last outing, and Colby Shreve picked up his first save for the Threshers.
In Indianapolis, the IronPigs began their road trip with a 4-0 loss to the Indians, managing just 3 hits. Derrick Mitchell had 1 of those hits for Lehigh Valley.......In Savannah, the BlueClaws got just 1 hit, a double by Maikel Franco, in a 4-0 loss to the Sand Gnats. Ethan Stewart pitched pretty well, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits and 4 walks in 6.1 innings of work. Lakewood is 1-5 with 1 game remaining on this road trip.
In Las Vegas, Anthony Gose extended his hitting streak to 8 games, homering for the second straight day. Anthony had 2 hits on the day, driving in 3 runs with his long ball to help the 51s beat Salt Lake City, 7-6, and is 11 for 34 during his streak. Travis d'Arnaud also had 2 hits, including a double, and a walk for the 51s........In Reno, Randy Ruiz (.368) was 1 for 3 with 2 walks, scoring a run and driving in his league leading 31st for the Aces in their 13-10 win over Tacoma........In Charlotte, Quintin Berry extended his hitting streak to 11 games, singling and scoring a run in Toledo's 6-run 5th inning rally which led to a 6-1 win over the Knights. "Q" is 16 for 45 during the streak. Greg Golson had a single and a walk, and scored the lone run for the Knights..........In Jackson, the Huntsville Stars won a 6-5 game from the Generals. Jason Jaramillo had a hit and a walk, and scored a run for Huntsville, and Jesus Sanchez (0.78) retired all 6 hitters he faced, including 3 strike outs.
The Houston Astros have promoted Jarred Cosart from AA-Corpus Christi to AAA-Oklahoma City.
