If the Las Vegas 51s never leave Salt Lake City, I don't think Travis d'Arnaud and Anthony Gose will mind. They are both tearing it up in that series. On Sunday, d'Arnaud (.318) belted 2 doubles, his 11th home run and drove in 4 runs, and has 8 hits and 8 RBI in the 3 games. Over the last 10 games, in which he has hit in all of them, Travis is 20 for 43 (465!!) with 7 of the 10 multi-hit games. Gose (.291) had 2 singles, a walk, 2 stolen bases (20), and scored 3 runs. Anthony is 7 for 12 in the 3 games so far, and is 20 for 41 (.488) during his 10 game stretch. Bobby Korecky (3-0) was the winning pitcher, with 2 innings of work in the 51s 8-3 win. This series will conclude today.
In Charlotte, the Knights beat the IronPigs, 7-2 Domonic Brown and Mike Spidale had 2 hits each for Lehigh Valley, and Derrick Mitchell threw out a runner at first from the outfield. BJ Rosenberg (1.59)pitched 2 innings and allowed a rare run on 2 hits and a walk, but struck out 4. Tyson Brummett followed with a scoreless frame.........In Harrisburg, Reading lost a 6-5 decision to the Senators. Trevor May started and went 6.1 innings, charged with 4 runs on 5 hits and a walk, and gaining no decision. Lisalberto Bonilla (1-1 since promotion from Clearwater) gave up the winning run. Leandro Castro (.272) had 3 hits and scored a run for Reading, and Troy Hanzawa (.314) had 2 more hits and is looking more like an all star everyday.
In Lakewood Sunday night, the Hagerstown Suns took a 7-6 win from the BlueClaws, taking 5 of 6 in the series. The last 2 games, however, there have been signs of life in the Lakewood offense. Right now Harold Martinez is hot, 2 more doubles Sunday, and should have had another hit, was robbed by the scorer. It was good to see Aaron Altherr pick up a couple of hits. Martinez was 8 for 23 (.348) on the homestand, while Altherr is hitting the ball more solidly the last few days. Brian Pointer hit his 7th home run, and his 2nd this week, so maybe he is coming around a little also. Kelly Dugan is 9 for his last 24(.375), and also hit 2 home runs this week. Kyrell Hudson is really struggling offensively, but playing excellent defense as the outfielders get moved around on a daily basis.
