The Phillies wasted a fine effort from Vance Worley last night, blowing a 4-0 lead, before rallying for a 6-4 win over the Cubs. Vance went 7 solid frames, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits and 1 walk, striking out 5 and receiving no decision. Antonio Bastardo came on to start the 8th, walking 1 and retiring 1 before giving the game to Chad Qualls. Qualls, who had been very good before last night, blew the save and picked up the win when the Fightin' Phils came back in the end. Carlos Ruiz (.313) had a hit and a walk, driving in 2 early runs for the Phillies.
In Toronto, for the second start in a row, Kyle Drabek pitched well, but was out-dueled by Yu Darvish, and Rangers topped the Jays, 4-1. Drabek (now 2-2, 2.40) went 6, giving up just 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks, striking out 8 Rangers. Darvish, now 4-0 to start his major league career, went 7, and gave up only 1 run for the win. The HomeSide finishes April with 11 major league wins!
In Atlanta, the Pirates beat the Braves, 9-3. Michael Bourn (.337) had 1 for 5, and was caught stealing for Atlanta.
