Saturday's notes

Better late than never, here are Saturday's post-game notes:

In Philadelphia, the Red Sox beat the Phillies,7-5.  Freddy Galvis (.242) had 2 more hits, including his 3rd home run, and 2 RBI, for the Phillies...........In Denver, the Mariners beat the Rockies,10-3.Josh Outman threw a 1-2-3 inning for Colorado,striking out 2 of the 3 hitters............In St. Pete, Michael Bourn (.328) was 1 for 4 with his 13th stolen base for Atlanta, but the Braves lost to the Rays, 5-2..........In Chicago, the White Sox topped the Cubs, 7-4.  Adrian Cardenas had a pinch hit appearance for the Cubbies.

In Clearwater, Carlos Alonso (.360) had 3 hits, including a home run and drove in 4 runs to lead the Threshers to a 6-3 win over Jupiter.  Albert Cartwright, Cody Asche, and Jim Murphy all added 2 hits to the shark attack......In Greensboro, the BlueClaws rode strong pitching from Colin Kleven and Mike Nesseth to a 4-3 victory over the Grasshoppers.  Kleven (3-3, 3.38) went 5 good innings, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits, and 1 walk, striking out 4, before handing it over to James Birmingham (1 IP, 1 walk, 1 K) and Nesseth (3 IP, 2 runs on 3 hits, save).

In Reading, the R-Phils wasted a fine effort from Julio Rodriguez, who went 7 strong innings against New Britain.  "J-Rod" allowed just 4 hits and 1 UNearned run, striking out 7 to lower his ERA to a stellar 1.88. Leandro Castro had 2 hits for Reading, including his 2nd home run of the year.  New Britain won it, 3-2 with an unearned run off of Mike Cisco in the 9th.


In Allentown, the Louisville Bats got to Austin Hyatt (2-5, 5.52) for 6 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks in just 4.2 innings of work en route to a 9-2 win over the IronPigs.  Tuffy Gosewisch (.250) had 2 doubles and scored a run for Lehigh Valley.


In Reno, Randy Ruiz (.336) was 2 for 4 with an RBI (#39) and 2 runs scored for the Aces, as they pounded Oklahoma City, 14-9..........In Toledo, Quintin Berry (.273) had a hit and 2 stolen bases (that's 18 so far) for the Mud Hens, who lost 8-5 to Syracuse........In Durham, Greg Golson (.296) also had a hit and 2 stolen bases (8 for him) for Charlotte, as the Knights beat the Bulls, 7-1......In Columbus, Jason Donald (.350) had an RBI double and scored a run for the Clippers, who dropped an 8-6 game to the Nomad Yankees..............In Albuquerque, Michael Taylor (.339) had 2 singles, a double, stole a base, scored 2 runs and knocked in another for the Sacramento River Cats, as they beat the Isotopes, 7-6.  Will Savage started for Albuquerque, and went 5.2 innings, allowing 5 runs, but only 2 earned, on 7 hits and 2 walks to receive no decision...............In Las Vegas, Anthony Gose (.251) had 2 hits and Travis d'Arnaud hit his 7th home run of the year for the 51s, as Las Vegas topped Memphis, 5-3......In Chattanooga, the Lookouts scored a 5-4, 10-inning victory over Huntsville.  Jason Jaramillo (.248) had a hit and an RBI, and Darren Byrd (2.77) threw a scoreless inning for the Stars......In Midland, Jonathan Singleton (.294) had 1 double, 2 walks and scored 2 runs, and Jonathan Villar added a hit  and a walk for the Hooks, as Corpus Christi defeated the Rock Hounds, 5-4.
