In Philadelphia Monday night, in a great pitching duel between Kyle Kendrick and Gio Gonzalez, the Nationals squeaked out a 2-1 win over the Phillies. Kendrick (0-4, but pitching better than that indicates) was the hard luck loser, going 7 strong innings and allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks, because Gonzalez (6-1, 1.98) threw 6 shut out frames, yielding just 3 hits while striking out 9. The Phillies have now dropped 3 straight.
In Tampa, Kyle Drabek fought his way through 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and 6 walks(!) to pick up the win in the Jays 6-2 victory over the Rays. The win was #4 for Kyle, and #22 for former Claws this year...........In Houston, Adrian Cardenas had a single, a double, and scored a run for the Cubs in their 4-run 9th inning rally!! They lost anyway, 8-4............In Phoenix, Mike Zagurski threw a scoreless inning for the Diamondbacks in their 6-1 loss to the Dodgers.
