Floyd shuts down Tigers

In Detroit Saturday afternoon, Gavin Floyd tossed 6 shut out innings for the White Sox to pick up his 1st win of the year, as the Sox beat the Tigers 5-1. Floyd allowed just 3 hits and 3 walks, striking out 6 to record the third major league win for HomeSiders this year.

In Philadelphia, Vance Worley was the hard luck loser against the Mets, as the Fightin' Phils were shut out by the Mets, 5-0. Vance pitched well, but not well enough, going 6 innings and allowing 4 runs on 8 hits and 4 walks, striking out 5 New York hitters. Antonio Bastardo struck out the only 2 hitters he faced , and Mike Stutes allowed a run on a hit and 2 walks in the 9th inning. Freddy Galvis had 1 of the Phillies' 6 hits, and Carlos Ruiz took a day off, appearing as a pinch hitter in the 7th and then staying in the game.

In Kansas City, Jason Donald had 2 hits, including a single in the 10th inning to start the winning rally for the Indians, helping Cleveland beat the Royals, 11-9. Donald had an earlier RBI and scored the go-ahead run in the 10th.........In Atlanta, Michael Bourn was 1 for 4 for the Braves as they edged the Brewers, 2-1.
