Pointer goes deep again!

In Greensboro, Brian Pointer (.421) belted his 3rd home run of the year, and Tyler Greene also homered-both with 2 men on- as the BlueClaws beat the Grasshoppers, 10-6. Guantlett Eldemire (.368) had 2 hits, 2 walks, scored 3 runs and drove home 2 more, and Kelly Dugan added 2 hits as the Claws improved to 2-4. Lino Martinez picked up the win, despite walking 6 in 5 innings, and allowing 3 runs, and Ryan Duke threw 2 scoreless innings to record his 2nd save.


In Reading, Darin Ruf continues to be hot, picking up 3 more hits and raising his average up to .450, and Steve Susdorf and Jiwan James (.400) hit home runs, but Reading lost to New Hampshire, 3-2. Jonathan Pettibone pitched well, going 6.2 inning, and allowing 3 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks, striking out 3 and being tagged with the defeat. Jay Johnson retired 4 hitters (1 hit, 1 K) in relief.

In Corpus Christi, Jonathan Villar had 2 hits and a walk, and stole his 4th base in 5 tries, and Jonathan Singleton (.300) also had 2 hits, a walk, and an RBI, for the Hooks, who lost 6-3 to Tulsa.........In Birmingham, Jason Jaramillo (.294) had a hit and 2 walks, scored a run and drove 1 in for Huntsville in their 8-7 , 11-inning loss to the Barons.
