Worley wins

The Phillies beat the Diamondbacks 8-5 Tuesday night behind a strong performance from Vance Worley.  Vance (2-1, 2.16)  went 5 innings and allowed just 1 run on 5 hits and 1 walk, striking out 6 for the win.  Antonio Bastardo came on and retired the only hitter he faced in the game. Freddy Galvis did not play for the first time this year.

Before the game, Arizona called up Mike Zaguski, who threw 2 innings for Arizona, allowing just 1 run on a home run by Shane Victorino.  Also, the Phillies have placed the struggling Mike Stutes on the 15-day DL, and called up Mike Schwimer.

In Oakland, Gavin Floyd pitched well enough to win, throwing 7.1 innings for the White Sox, before leaving  with a runner on base. The inherited runner scored the game's first run in Oakland's 2-0 win, and Floyd (only 2 hits and 2 walks) was tagged with the loss.  BRUTAL!!

In Los Angeles, Michael Bourn (.329) kept his hitting streak alive with a double and a walk in the Braves' 4-3 win over the Dodgers......In Minnesota, Matt Maloney allowed 5 runs on 8 hits (3 Ks) in just 1.2 innings of work against Boston, in the Sox 11-2 pounding of the Twins.
