no joy in Mudville......

In Buffalo, the Bisons made it 2 in a row over Lehigh Valley, stopping the IronPigs, 4-1 on just 4 hits. Domonic Brown (0 for 4) and Tuffy Gosewisch (0 for 3) were both hitless, but Jacob Diekman was impressive again, striking out the side in the his 1-2-3 inning.

In Richmond, just 1 day after scoring 19 runs, the Reading Phillies were defeated by the Flying Squirrels, 2-1 on just 5 hits. David Buchanan (1-1, 2.37) threw 6 solid innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits and a walk, striking out 4. Jay Johnson also threw a scoreless frame in relief.

The BlueClaws wrapped up their initial home stand with a 9-1 loss to Greensboro. Aaron Altherr (.306) had the only 2-hit game, and the pitching struggled so much that infielder Carlos Perdomo had to throw an inning. If I tell you that Perdomo was the most effective pitcher we had on the afternoon, you get the idea what kind of a day it was!! The team heads to Hagerstown to open a series Thursday night, with Colin Kleven getting the start.

In Salt Lake City, Anthony Gose had 2 hits, including a triple, and scored a run for Las Vegas in their 6-4 loss to the Bees. Anthony also threw out a baserunner. Bobby Korecky tossed 3 innings in relief for Vegas, allowing just 1 run on 3 hit, striking out 2...................In Albuquerque, Will Savage recorded his 3rd win of the young season with 4.1 innings of scoreless relief in the Isotopes' 6-4 win over Iowa. RJ Swindel faced 3 hitters, retiring 1 and allowing 2 runs for Memphis.........In Louisville, Quintin Berry (.320) had a single, a double, 2 walks, and 2 RBI for Toledo as the Mud Hens accumulated 21 hits on their way to a 13-9 win over the Bats. Mike Costanzo belted a 3-run home run for Louisville............In Sacramento, the River Cats lost a 2-1 extra inning decision to Tacoma, with the Cats' lone run coming on Mike Taylor's 2nd home run of the year.............In Charlotte, Greg Golson (.333) had 2 hits, including a double and drove in 2 runs in Charlotte's 4 run 2nd inning, leading the Knights to a 4-3 win over Durham........In Huntsville, the Stars and the Tennessee Smokies split a pair of games, with the Stars winning 2-1 in the opener (Jason Jaramillo -0 for 3), and the Smokies taking the nightcap, 1-0. Jesus Sanchez threw 2 scoreless innings in relief in the second game.......In Manchester, New Hampshire edged Binghamton, 2-1. Kevin Howard had an RBI double for the Fisher Cats.
