Pigs win; Threshers and Claws fall

In Buffalo, Cody Overbeck (.292) had 4 hits, including 2 doubles, drove in a run and scored 2 more as the IronPigs rallied with 5 in the 8th inning to steal an 8-4 win from the Bisons. Derrick Mitchell (.237) chipped in with a hit and a walk, and the win went to Mike Schwimer, who threw 1.1 inning and allowed a run, the first earned run Mike has allowed in 6 appearances. Joe Savery picked up the save, recording the final 5 outs. Lehigh Valley improves to 11-4 on the year.

In Lakeland, the Flying Tigers roughed up Jesse Biddle, and beat the Threshers, 7-1. Biddle (0-2, 7.94) lasted just 3 innings, and gave up 7 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits, NO walks, striking out 4. Garrett Claypool threw 2 scoreless innings of relief, but no Thresher had more than 1 hit. Jim Murphy doubled in the only run for Clearwater, who fell to 4-9 on the season.

In Hagerstown, the BlueClaws scored 6 runs in the first inning, but lost to the Suns, 11-9 in 10 innings. Before the game, Lakewood activated Mario Hollands off the DL, deactivating Chris Duffy. Maikel Franco, Brian Pointer and Gustavo Gonzalez had 2 hits each, with Franco hitting a monster home run. Kelly Dugan also went deep for the BlueClaws, who lost their 3rd straight. I will give the pitchers a break, and not talk about them.
