HomeSide housekeeping

Phillies have placed Justin De Fratus, Ryan Howard and Chase Utley-all on the 15-day DL, retroactive to March 26.

Philadelphia will start the season with 7 former BlueClaws on the active roster: Hamels, Kendrick, Worley, Stutes, Bastardo, Ruiz and Galvis.......as well as Joe Savery, who was never a Claw, but has played in the system alongside our boys for years.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are waiting until the final minute before deciding if they will keep Mike Zagurski on the opening day roster. Mike is out of options and would have to clear waivers to be sent down. With the premium on left handed pitchers, it stands to reason he would be picked up and given a spot in somebody else's bullpen.

It appears rule 5 selection Lendy Castillo has made the Cubs opening day roster!

Of course, Michael Bourn will start the year in Atlanta, and Jay Happ will be in Houston's rotation. It looks as if Sergio Escalona will join Happ in Houston, again.

Kyle Drabek will get another shot in Toronto rotation.

Both Lou Marson and Jason Donald will start the year with the Indians, with Carlos Carrasco starting out on the 60-day DL. Carrasco and Marson played in Lakewood with Josh Outman, who was placed on the 15-day DL by the Rockies with a strained oblique. The third prominent member of that staff, Matt Maloney has made the Twins bullpen staff.

Gavin Floyd will return to the White Sox rotation, trade rumors aside! As of now, his first scheduled start is this Sunday night @ Texas.

Quintin Berry will not start the season with the Tigers. But this afternoon in Toledo, Berry had 3 hits and scored a run for the Mud Hens as they dropped an 8-3 game to the parent Tigers.
