HomeSiders earn 2 more wins

The Phillies salvaged the final game of their weekend series with the Mets behind superior pitching from Cole Hamels, and a late offensive explosion. Hamels gave up a 2-run home run to Ike Davis in the first inning, and then shut the Mets down for the rest of the day. Cole went through the 7th inning, allowing just the 2 runs on only 6 hits and 1 walk, striking out 10 and looking like the old Cole! He picked up his first win of the year as the the Phillies scored 7 late runs for an 8-2 win. Carlos Ruiz had a hit in 5 at bats on the offensive side.

Thyis morning, the Phillie activated Jose Contreras and optioned Joe Savary to Lehigh Valley.

In Toronto, Kyle Drabek won his 2nd game in as many starts for the Blue Jays, going 7.1 innings against the Orioles, allowing just 2 runs, only 1 of them earned, on 6 hits and 1 walk, striking out 6 in the Jays' 9-2 victory. Drabek is now 2-0, 1.42 in his 2 starts..........In Miami, Jay Happ also was strong, going 6 solid innings for the Astros. Jay gave up 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks, fanning 8, but the woeful Astros bullpen let the victory get away, with the Marlins winning in walk off fashion in the 11th............Michael Bourn's slow start seems to be over, as he picked up 3 hits including a double, scored a run and stole his 2nd base of the year for the Braves in their 7-4 home win over Milwaukee..........In Kansas City, the Cleveland Indians scored a 13-7 win over the Royals, Lou Marson had a hit and an RBI, and scored a run for the Tribe............In Minnesota, Matt Maloney threw a 1-2-3 inning for the Twins in their 4-3 loss to Rangers, while in St. Louis, Lendy Castillo threw 2 innings for the Cubs, and allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk, striking ouit 4 in the Chicago's 10-3 loss to the defending champs.
