Galvis first dinger earns silence

The Mets topped the Phillies, 5-2 on Friday night, but there were some bright spots. Freddy Galvis had 2 hits, his average on a steady rise this week, including his first major league home run! A little humor in the dugout, as his teammates gave him the silent treatment when he returned. Carlos Ruiz (.350) had a hit in 4 at bats and scored the Phillies' other run. Kyle Kendrick work 1.1 innings in relief, allowing a run on a hit and 2 walks, before yielding to Joe Savery, who walked 1 while retiring 2.

In Washington, Alfredo Simon bounced back from his last outing with 2 shut out innings (2 walks, 1 K) for the Reds in their 2-1, 13-inning loss to the Nationals.........In Minnesota, Matt Maloney tossed a 1-2-3 inning (1 K) for the Twins in a 4-1 loss to the Rangers............In Atlanta, Michael Bourn may have broken out of his early slump with 2 hits, including a triple, a walk, an RBI, and 2 runs scored for the Braves, as Atlanta pounded Milwaukee, 10-5.
