Pointer, Franco lead Claws to win;Singleton belts 2

In Lakewood Tuesday night, the BlueClaws returned home with a thrilling 10-9 win over Asheville.  Great games for Brian Pointer (.316), who had 2 clutch hits, 2 walks, and 3 RBI, Miakel Franco (3 hits, including a triple and home run, and 2 RBI), Carlos Perdomo (double, home run, 3 RBI) and Gustavo Gonzalez (3 hits, 2 runs scored).  Ervis Manzinillo pitched better than his line shows (5 IP, 4 runs, 8 hits), and seemed to have the best command of his pitches he has had this year. Gabriel Arias struggled, allowing 5 runs in just 1.1 innings, but Colby Shreve put out the fire and recorded his 2nd win with 2.2 innings of relief.

In Reading, Tyler Cloyd improved to 3-0 for the R-Phils (4-0 overall) with 7 shut out innings for Reading in their 6-0 win over Richmond. Cloyd allowed just 5 hits, NO walks, and struck out 5.  Tyson Brummett threw a scoreless inning of relief, while Darin Ruf (.400) had 2 hits, including a home run, stole a base and drove in 2 runs and Jiwan James (.333) had a single and a double and also knocked in 2 runs.  Reading has now won 8 of 10, and at 12-5, is in first place!

In Clearwater, the Threshers had no hits until D'Arby Myers (.357) doubled in the 9th inning and then scored the game winning run in Clearwater's 1-0 victory over the Manatees.  Myers was delivered by outfielder Peter Lavin, another of the players who skipped Lakewood this season and went directly to Clearwater.  Great job of pitching by another of those who bypassed us, Adam Morgan, who threw 7 shut out frames before handing it over to Lisalveto Bonilla, who tossed 2 shut out frames of relief (1 hit, 3 Ks) and recorded the win.

In Allentown, the IronPigs grabbed a 4-3 win in 11 innings over Buffalo. Domonic Brown (.266) had a hit, a walk, an RBI, and stole a base (his 3rd),  and Jacob Diekman worked 2 innings and gave up his first run this year on 2 hits and a walk.

In Corpus Christi, Jonathan Singleton (.377) was 4 for 4, including a triple, and 2 home runs, and knocked in 4 runs for the Hooks in their 8-2 win over the Rock Hounds.  Jonathan Villar contributed a hit and scored a run also for Corpus Christi..................In Gwinnett, the Braves held off the Knights, 5-4.  Greg Golson (.303) had a hit, 2 walks, and stole a base (#4) for Charlotte...........In Reno, Michael Taylor (.366) had a hit and 2 RBI (17) for Sacramento in the River Cats' 12-10 win over the Aces..........In Columbus, Quintin Berry had a double, 2 walks, an RBI and scored a run for Toledo, as the Mud Hens beat the Clippers, 12-8...........In Las Vegas, Anthony Gose had a single, a triple, and a walk, stole his 6th base, scored a run and knocked in 3 for the 51s, who lost an 11-6 decision to Colorado Springs.  Travis d'Arnaud had a hit in 4 at bats for Vegas.
