major league action

Pittsburgh continues to be a tough place for the Phillies to get win, and the Pirates scored a 2-1 10-inning win Saturday to keep that going. Freddy Galvis (0 for 8 start) had a chance to to give the Phils the lead in the 8th inning with runners on, but struck out. Carlos Ruiz was 1 for 3 with a walk, and Kyle Kendrick, Mike Stutes and Antonio Bastardo all made their season debuts with allowing any runs.

In New York, Michael Bourn had a single, a double and a walk, and scored a run for the Braves, but the Mets topped Atlanta, 4-2 thanks to 3 home runs, and Alfredo Simon made his debut for the Reds, working an inning and giving up 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out the side against Miami.
