Claws win fog shortened game

The fog rolled into Lakewood on Thursday night, and for the second time in team history, the game was called because it was just too dangerous to continue. The BlueClaws posted a 3-1 win over Hagerstown. Jeremy Hamilton and Anthony Gose each had a single and a double and a run scored, and Jim Murphy drove in the 2 game deciding runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, to make a winner of Heitor Correa (3-2). Heitor worked in and out of difficulty all night, but after giving up a home run to Derrick Norris (his league leading 14th), Correa kept the Suns off the scoreboard, throwing 102 pitches. Justin DeFratus recorded the final out and picked up his 2nd save when the game was called.

The win, combined with Delmarva's 4-3 loss at Lake County, gives Lakewood a 1.5 game lead with 12 games remaining in the first half. The BlueClaws will now spend the weekend visiting Lake County and the Shorebirds will battle the Suns.
