Mets outslug Phils

In a game that featured 7 home runs, the Mets edged the Phillies 6-5 in the opener of a 3-game set in New York Tuesday night. J.A. Happ battled through 5.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks. Happ struck out 4 and received no decision when the Mets scored late to pick up the win. Ryan Howard hit his 18th home run, 1 of 4 hit by the Fightin' Phils.

The Phillies announced that Brad Lidge has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and have called up catcher Paul Bako from Reading to take his spot on the roster.
