Tides stop Pigs winning streak

The Norfolk Tides defeated the IronPigs, 4-2 on Sunday, ending Lehigh Valley's season long 7 game winning streak. The Pigs are now 32-37 on the year, and will send Kyle Kendrick (4-4) against the Tides tonight in the finale of the road trip.

Drew Carpenter sustained his 1st loss of they year, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits and a walk over 6 innings of work. Drew is now 6-1, 3.02 on the season. Lou Marson had 2 hits and drove in a run for Lehigh, and Mike Spidale had the other RBI.

In Vegas, red hot Randy Ruiz had 3 more hit to raise his average to .326, driving in his 63rd run of the year, and Kevin Howard (.255) added 2 hits, including a home run, but the 51s fell to Portland, 10-9. Ruiz is 15 for 33 (that's .455) over his current 8-game hitting streak, with 4 doubles, 4 homers and 9 RBI.

In Tacoma, Chris Roberson (.287) had 2 doubles and scored a run, as the Reno Aces collected 18 hits, defeating Andy Baldwin and the Rainiers, 11-2. Baldwin lasted 5 innings, giving up 5 runs on 9 hits, NO walks, 5 Ks, to fall to 5-4 on the season.
