Pigs lose rain-shortened contest

The Charlotte Knights beat the IronPigs 6-4 last night in Lehigh Valley, as the rain in the area shortened the game to just 7 innings. Mike Spidale was 1 for 3 for Lehigh. The news out of Allentown is that Jason Donald has a torn meniscus in his right knee and will be out about 6 weeks, joining fellow Olympian Lou Marson on the DL. Marson is expected back a little sooner.

In Colorado Springs, the SkySox and the Las Vegas 51s split a doubleheader. Colorado Springs took the opener, 5-0 and the 51s bounced back to take a 1-0 decision in the nightcap. Randy Ruiz was 1 for 5, a double, with a walk and the evening. In Nashville, the Sounds defeated Memphis 4-3. R. J. Swindle retired the only batter he faced to notch his 9th "hold" of the year. Swindel has a minuscule 0.33 ERA for Nashville, allowing just 1 earned run in 27 innings! In New Orleans, Greg Golson (.289) was 2 for 4, and threw out a runner at home for the Oklahoma City RedHawks, but New Orleans won the game 7-3. In Reno, Chris Roberson (.265) was 2 for 4, including his 6th home (that's 2 in 2 days for Robey), but the Salt Lake Bees defeated the Aces, 5-3.
