Jason Knapp continues to pitch well without any luck. The big right-hander lost again last night, 4-2 to Delmarva and continues to be a victim of non-support. Although he is 2-6, he has a very good ERA of 3.62 and the team just seems to come up a little short every time he takes the mound. On Thursday, he allowed 3 runs, just 2 earned, on just 3 hits and 4 walks, striking out 8 over 5 innings of work as the BlueClaws opened their second half. Rob Roth allowed a run over 2 innings, and looks as if he is coming around, not walking anyone this time, and Ryan Bergh threw 2 scoreless frames, keeping Lakewood in the game.
Another encouraging note for me was Zack Collier. Zack hit the ball hard in his first 3 at bats, coming up with 2 hits, and was robbed the 3rd AB when he hit a ball that was heading up the middle that Delmarva pitcher Travis Keating snagged. Speaking of hitting the ball hard, Travis D'Arnaud had a single in 4 at bats, and hit 2 more rockets that were caught. If half of the balls that Travis has hit hard had found some holes, he would be hitting 50 points higher, but he certainly has had good at bats.
