Lehigh Valley wins behind Carpenter, Escalona

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs scored a 2-1 win over Charlotte Thursday night behind the solid pitching of Drew Carpenter and Sergio Escalona. Carpenter went 7 innings, yielding just 1 run on 6 hits, NO walks, and striking out 4 to improve to 5-0, 2.75 on the year. Escalona retired all 6 hitter he faced, 3 by strike out to record the save.

In New Orleans, the Zephyrs routed Oklahoma City 10-1. Greg Golson (.285) was 1 for 3, driving in the only run for the RedHawks. In Colorado Springs, Randy Ruiz (.307) smacked his 10th home run (RBI # 51) as part of a 12-hit barrage as the 51s topped the SkySox, 14-4. In Sacramento, Andy Baldwin tossed 7 good innings, giving up just 4 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks, but received no decision in Tacoma's 6-4 comeback win.
