The Lakewood BlueClaws rode their superior pitching to a doubleheader sweep over Delmarva Saturday night winning a 1-0 walk-off in the opener and a tense 3-2 game in the nightcap.
In game 1, which was stared by Jesus Sanchez (3 scoreless innings)Friday, Freddy Ballestas made his debut for Lakewood with 5 splendid scoreless innings, allowing just 2 hits, NO walks and striking out 8. The 22-year old Venezuelan was in complete control all evening. B.J. Rosenberg threw a scoreless 9th and picked up the win when the Claws broke through in the bottom half. Harold Garcia started the Lakewood 9th with a single and Anthony Gose (who earlier stole his 45th base) got the 2-strike bunt down the move him to 2nd base. Travis D'Arnaud smacked his second hit of the game, a double down the right field line to win it for the 'Claws. It was the team-leading 40th RBI for Travis.
In the nightcap, Heitor Correa went the distance for his 5th victory of the year, allowing just 2 runs on 6 hits, NO walks, striking out 5, lowering his ERA to 2.78. Anthony Gose led the attack with 2 singles and a double, and scored a run. Lakewood scored 2 runs on wild pitches and that was the difference in the ballgame.
