injury update

Most of the news here is not good. We start with Josh Outman, who the Athletics have moved from the 15-day to the 60-day DL with a sprained left (pitching) elbow. It is unknown if he will pitch again this year.

Alfredo Simon, who won a job in the Orioles rotation during spring training, had season ending on a ligament in his pitching elbow in late May, and is hoping to be ready for spring training.

Taylor Buchholz, who signed a big deal for this year before the season, had Tommy John surgery on June 17 and will miss the rest of this year.

Antonio Bastardo has a strained left (pitching) shoulder and will miss at least his next start Wednesday. His return is uncertain at this time.

I spoke with Andy Barb on Sunday, he has a problem in his pitching shoulder and will probably undergo season ending surgery sometime in the next few months.

Robinson Tejeda has come off the DL for the Royals and is back in their bullpen after a month on the shelf. Robinson pitched 8 days ago, allowing 2 hits and a walk, recording just 1 out.
