In Trenton, Reading lost the first game of a doubleheader, which was started by Joe Savery Friday, by the score of 8-2. Alex Concepcion threw 3 scoreless innings before Sam Walls and Angel Castro gave up 7 runs in 2 innings to let the game get away. Chance Chapman threw a 1-2-3 8th inning for Reading, who managed just 3 hits.
The R-Phils bounced back in game 2, behind Vance Worley, to beat the Thunder 7-2. Worley went 6 strong, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk, to improve to 5-4, 3.63 for the year. Michael Taylor (.337) had a single, a double, a walk, scored twice and stole a base (#13), Neil Sellers (.295) had 2 doubles and 3 RBI and Jeremy Slayden (.395) belted his 3rd home run.
In Jupiter, the Threshers scored 5 in the 11th to break open an 8-3 win over the Hammerheads. Steve Susdorf had 4 more hits (14 for 28), and Javis Diaz (.296, single double 3 RBI), Fidel Hernandez (.274, 2 RBI) and Matt Rizzotti (.251, 2 singles, walk, 2 runs scored) all added 2 hits for Clearwtaer. Julian Sampson started and pitched well, going 6.2, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and 1 walk. Walter Tejeda pitched for 2.1, allowing 3 hits and no runs, but he did let the inherited tying run score, then Dan Brauer threw a scoreless 10th and received the win when the offense exploded.
In Williamsport, T.J. Warren (.400) had 2 hits, a walk, scored 2 runs and stole a base, and Jiwan James (.303) added 2 hits and an RBI as the Crosscutters defeated Mahoning Valley, 6-1. Nicholas Hernandez started and went 4 innings, allowing just 1 run on 6 hits, Luke Werth tossed 3 shut out frames to get credit for the win, and Austin Hyatt went the final 2, allowing no hits.
