Phils pen blows Hamels win

Cole Hamels pitched well enough to win Tuesday night, going 6 innings, and allowing just 2 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks, striking out 6. Cole threw 110 pitches and left the game with a 3-2 advantage. Ryan Madson gave up the tying run in the 9th, and Clay Condrey was charged with 5 runs in the 10th, as the Phillies fell to Toronto, 8-3.

In Arlington, Michael Bourn (.294) had a single and a double for Houston, but the Rangers beat the Astros, 6-1. Mike was thrown out stealing for only the 5th time this year.

Kevin Howard has come off the disabled list for the Las Vegas 51s, and is 7 for 29 (.241) in his 8 games back so far. Kevin was 1 for 4 with a double Tuesday night, but Chris Roberson (.284) had 3 hits including a double and scored 2 runs in the Ace's 4-2 win over Vegas. In Portland, Andy Baldwin improved to 5-3 on the year, throwing 7 strong innings for Tacoma in their 7-5 win over the Beavers. Baldwin allowed 3 runs on 7 hits and a walk, reducing his ERA to 4.54.

In Bowie, the BaySox defeated the Reading Phillies, 4-2. Michael Taylor (.335) had 2 hits for the R-Phils, a double and a triple, as well as throwing out a runner at home. The runner isn question; Mike Costanzo, who had 2 hits and a walk on the night for Bowie. Vance Worley absorbed the loss, throwing 5 innings, and giving up 3 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks to fall to 4-4 on the year. Pat Overholt did throw 2 scoreless frames for Reading. The R-Phils are now 37-26, 4.5 games behind front-running Akron. Michael Stutes (4-2) will take on Bowie Wednesday.
