Susdorf's 4 hits leads Claws to win

Steve Susdorf (.338) had 4 hits and drove in 2 runs, and Travis D'Arnaud and Jeremy Hamilton both homered and drove home a pair as the Lakewood BlueClaws defeated Hagerstown 8-3 Thursday night, eliminating Delmarva and reducing their magic number to 1 over Kannapolis. This means just 1 win in the last 4 games or 1 Kannapolis loss over the weekend will clinch a September playoff berth for Lakewood.

In addition to Susdorf's big game, D'Arnaud and Anthony Gose each contributed 3 hits, with Travis hitting his team leading 8th home run and Anthony stealing his 43rd base. Hamilton (.285), Harold Garcia (.285) and Troy Hanzawa (.275) added 2 hits each for the BlueClaws, who return home Friday to take on Lake County.

Jesus Sanchez pitched his 2nd straight very good game, putting in 7 innings and allowing just 1 earned run (3 overall) on just 5 hits and 2 walks, striking out 6 to improve to 3-4 on the year. Justin De Fratus pitched the final 2 frames, picking up his 3rd save and lowering his ERA to 1.58 for the season.

I have a full day of work ahead of me, so I will see everyone at the ballpark tonight! Jon Velasquez (9-2) will try to clinch it for us!!
