the old Carlos is back

After not winning a game in April and May, Carlos Carrasco won 4 of his 5 starts in June, including a great effort Friday night. Carlos went 6.1 innings in Allentown against Indianapolis, allowing just 1 run on 7 hits and 3 walks, striking out 7 in the IronPigs' 6-1 victory. Carrasco is now 4-7 and looking like his old self for the first time in 2009. Sergio Escalona came in for him in the 7 and recorded 5 outs, giving up 2 hits and 1 walk, before Cedric Bowers cleaned up in the 9th. Mike Spidale had a single, a walk, a stolen base, and scored 2 runs to help Lehigh Valley to the win.

In Portland, the Beavers swept a doubleheader from the Reno Aces. Chris Roberson was 4 for 6 on the day and is now hitting .296 for Reno. In Oklahoma City, Elizardo Ramirez (4-6, 4.81) pitched 6 strong innings for the RedHawks, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits and 1 walk, striking out 8 as Oklahoma City defeated Round Rock, 2-1. Greg Golson (.277) was 1 for 4 and stole his 8th base for the RedHawks. In Tacoma, Kevin Howard (.282) was 2 for 5 and drove in 2 runs for Las Vegas, but Tacoma scored 3 in the bottom of the 9th to take an 8-7 win. In Midland, Adrian Cardenas (.341) had a single and a double, scored a run and drove in his 46th of the year, but it was not enough for the Rock Hounds, as they lost to San Antonio 10-7.
