Claws top Hoppers, lead by 3.5

The Lakewood BlueClaws defeated Greensboro 4-3 Tuesday to take 3 of 4 in their series and, combined with Delmarva's loss to Kannapolis, extend their lead in the Northern Division to 3.5 games. Lakewood, 31-20 and winners of 6 of the last 7, will now go into Delmarva for 4 games.

Harold Garcia hit a 2-run home run (his 4th) to get Lakewood off to the lead and they never relinquished it. Anthony Gose and Travis Mattair had 2 hits each. Gose also stole his 36th base, and Moose had an 8 for 16 series. Tyler Cloyd started and picked up his 6th win, throwing 6.1 innings, scattering 9 hits, and allowing just 1 run. Ryan Bergh recorded the final 8 outs, and picked up his 9th save, despite giving up 2 runs on 4 hits.

Jason Knapp will start the opener of the Delmarva series Wednesday night.
