D'Arnaud leads Claw's rebound

Travis D'Arnaud homered for the 3rd straight day, a 3-run blast in the fifth inning, and drove in another run with a single, as the Lakewood BlueClaws rebounded from a tough loss on Sunday to defeat the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 11-6. Travis had been hitting the ball hard without anything to show for it recently, but now the line drives are starting to find the holes, and the seats! He leads the team with 7 homers and 32 RBI, which places him 4th overall in the S.A.L. Anthony Gose had 3 hits, including 2 doubles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. Gose scored 3 runs and drove 3 more in. Korby Mintkin also had 3 hits, and everybody in the line-up either reached base or drove in a run.

Jon Velasquez picked up the win, throwing 5.1 innings, and giving up just 3 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks. Velasquez is now 7-2 on the season, tied for the league lead in wins. Santo Hernandez gave up 2 runs, only 1 earned, over his 1.2 innings. Even with the runs scoring off him, Hernandez has only surrendered 2 earned runs over his last 24 innings. Ryan Ariail threw the final 2 frames, giving up just 1 run on 4 hits as Lakewood won for the 5th time in the last 6 games.

The BlueClaws (30-20) will send Tyler Cloyd (5-2) in the series finale this afternoon at 12:30.
